What should companies do?

The first measure in countering RSI is prevention.
Companies are encouraged to work together with their staff to prevent RSI. The principles are simple and can be achieved by following the legislative guidelines, advice available from the RSI Association and by consulting experienced professionals.
Establish the value of preventative training. Calculate the cost of reduced efficiency through pain or discomfort if nothing is done until conditions need treating. This is called a predictive assessment.
After preventative training, the greatest favour that a company can do itself and its employees is to ensure an 'open door' policy when it comes to declaring pain or discomfort. The sooner that conditions are picked up, the more likely it is that they will be stopped from developing.
If training is needed or a condition is suspected, do something - call in the professionals.
