The Etcom Alert
In addition to our brand and our website, new this month is a free program, the Etcom Alert. This is a simple software program that gently reminds you to think of your posture. It is small and unobtrusive program and once installed, you have the choice of a pop-up message of your own wording, a pop-up picture of your choice or a sound of your choice.
The picture shows the control box, upper left, and at the lower right, what the pop-up looks like. You can program it to appear at intervals between 5 and 60 minutes, with the pop-up staying up for between 1 and 20 seconds (every 15 minutes for 3 seconds seems favourite so far.)
It has the great merit of sliding away by itself, so although it catches your attention, the distraction is minimal.

The technicals and legals:
Installing the program alone is easy and it comes with a .PDF Read Me document. However, it does need files from Microsoft.Net, and installing that if it is not on your machine may be more demanding (the alert installer tells you if you need it). If you are on a network, you should definitely check with your network administrator before going ahead. The installation file comes with a .PDF that has more detailed information about this.
The program is easily disabled or uninstalled.
Copyright belongs to the excellent developers, Surfraider Solutions Ltd. The program is passed out free of charge and may be distributed freely as long as it is unaltered.
